Bringing in the New Year with an Old Game

"There two types of people in the world-- those who love cribbage and those that don't know how to play."

Cribbage, the timeless classic stemming from the early 1600's, continues to be popular still in 2012. It is loved by both young and old. Counting the 15-2's sounds foreign to some, but to others it is like singing a rhythmic love song. It brings together familiar friends and is also a catalyst for making a new one.

If you have ever experienced this historic game, you understand how competitive it can be. I have seen friends force pals to eat dead flies, to be chased around the house and whacked with wooden paddles (or with the cribbage board itself), and even a bet made to receive a skunk tattoo on a grown man's tail-end as a result of losing a game of cribbage.

Always waiting to be dealt the elusive 29-pointer, cribbage has its players coming back for game after game.
